Bed rear tack welds
Everyone that's disassembled a fleet side bed have you tack welded the rear upright to the cross member again? Factory assembly manual shows 3 small welds. Is it really necessary?

Yes. It's pretty important to do that. It keeps the bed from racking. Just make sure you have the tailgate fitting good before you weld it. LockDoc

Re: Bed rear tack welds
Like Doc stated make sure your tailgate is a proper fit before welding.

I put an arrow on Howzzit's picture. There is usually one spot of weld close to each corner. LockDoc

Re: Bed rear tack welds
I did a little more weld on the underside of my box as I painted it prior to assembly and I didn't want to mess the paint for that little tack on the floor to the pocket. Its holding up so far from the all the rough roads around here.
