The 1972 Suburban, which is lovingly called the "SuperBurban"

Well, I lurked the forums for a couple weeks before I picked her up.... and have continued to lurk for the past few months since I drove her home.

Here she is... 1972 Suburban, 1/2T.... It's got a few things done motorwise, but not much.... and she's tired. 8" lift, 20" Rockstars, and 38" Open Country M/Ts.

She needs a lot of work... Obviously. But, I have many big plans for her, hopefully sooner than later. Plans including a built 454/TH400, NP203/NP205 Doubler, and Dana 60's... among all the little stuff... you guys know how it goes.

haven't been a huge fan of the rockstars but they look good on your rig! makes me wish i woulda held out for a four wheel drive.

I was never much of a fan of the Rockstars either.... But they do seem to fit this truck fairly well. The thought also crossed my mind... if I ended up not liking the wheels, they're in flawless condition... I could turn around and sell them for almost half of what I paid for the whole truck. But, I grew to like them.

Obviously, once I go to 1-tons, a different wheel setup will go on..... I'd like to think this entire running gear setup will see itself under a 72 Blazer a few years down the road though.

Looks like it's going to be a good project - it suprisingly looks pretty good with those wheels on it. Very cool rig.

seems to be the problem with wheels anymore. someone comes out with a new wheel, they look decent until everyone and the dog has a set on their vehicle. good luck with the project. i thought the one i picked up was pretty straight, but it fails in comparison to yours.

I've totally seen this suburban in Queen Creek at San Tan Flats! I bought mine right before this one was for sale. I'm just finishing a very similar build, 500 hp 454, th400 etc.... It'll be fun!

Can't miss this one, and I did pick it up from Mesa! I figured SOMEBODY had seen it... at the least, it was quite the eye catcher on Craigslist.

I'm shooting for about the same horsepower as well. Maybe a smidge more.. The short-block I am using is one I'm getting from my father.. It was the last motor in his "monster truck" from when he was younger. He's guessing it was worth about 7-800HP in it's last form. Stories of it having the ability to light up 44's in any gear attests to that. I won't build it that radical, just for reliability and driveability reasons. But it will definitely be a good time either way.

My original plan was to put a 1st Generation 12v Cummins, and an NV4500 in it, along with D60's.... but the sound and feel of a healthy Big-Block is unavoidable for it's intended use.

I think the 4x4 classic burbs look awesome, either in your current condition to fully restored.

Oh, and you got my vote to go 8 lug!
