Noises from Steering Wheel
Anytime I turn the steering wheel for a sharp turn, I hear a grinding noise that is coming from right under the steering wheel cap. When taking gradual turns there is no noise but any 90 degree turns........like at an intersection.......causes the noise. Tonight, it began to make a squealing noise which made me decide to do something about it. Any ideas what in particular it most likely is? I have no idea other than maybe a bearing of some type but I've never tore into a steering column so I have no idea what to expect. Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Once you pull your steering wheel off (which is a LOT easier said than done) you will see the upper bearing on your steering column. It should not be hard to pull it and replace it.

Another thing to check is if your cab has "settled" down on the frame due to rusted out/damaged cab mounts, it puts pressure on the column. The column is trying to hold up the cab. You can readjust this at the base of the floor where the column passes threw to get by for now. Any of you guys ever have a rusty standard shift truck that when you depress the clutch peddle the left side of the cab lifts up?

Be careful with the cheap ones, we broke a bolt on a cheap one from checkers and had to drill it out and tap
