Mystery Hole
70 CST10
This hole in the firewall was it for the clutch?,if you had a standard. Another hole I have not noticed until today. Someone had put duct tape over the hole at one time on the inside. Just curious what it was for, and does any one know where I might be able to get a rubber plug that might cover it up? Thanks. |

Re: Mystery Hole
Factory had a metal plate over the hole with just 2 screws (top and bottom) holding it in place

Re: Mystery Hole
I believe 67 and later had a plastic plug like this
https://www.classicindustries.com/pr...ts/152862.html And 72 and earlier had a metal plate like this https://www.classicparts.com/1971-72...ctinfo/90-542/ Supposedly the plastic plug would pop out and get lost if you closed the door with windows up, so they switched to metal plate held by screws in some year, perhaps 71. I got a metal plate for my 1969 truck that surely came with the plastic plug, because there are no screw holes. I plan to install it the next time my engine is out. The later year trucks also got a vent in the door frame to allow for the doors to be shut with windows up without causing them to be hard to close. Plastic plug Metal plate |

Re: Mystery Hole
Here is a firewall clutch rod delete id picture detailing the above early style plastic plug vs. later metal plate subject. If needed, we can get one of these 67-70 clutch rod delete plugs packaged up & headed your way, details are listed in the below linked parts board thread. Mel
