I have a 91 Suburban parts truck that I am molesting for the betterment of my 89 Crew Cab.
I am going to transfer the O/H Console into the Crew Cab and have a couple of questions. I tried to do some searching so I wouldn’t look like an idiot but, oh well, here I go…. A) How do I take this thing apart WITHOUT breaking anything? I am going to do a color change on it, not sure if it will be red or black. B) Is there any chance that there are parts available for these things? You can see that one of my little lights is missing the lens and all four spot lights have the rubber rings wasting away

NO PARTS available for anything. The console snaps together, and I think any attempt to get one apart will end up in disaster and having to glue it back together. My guess would be to mask it off as best as you can and paint it. I'd be interested in some parts off that for my 91 burb

Well! That is NOT the answer that I wanted to hear!!
I will have to think of something. What was GM's thinking on bulb replacement? Get a new Suburban??

I see these in the junkyards every now and then. I guess I should buy a few for parts for everyone that need them.

Well, I guess I shouldn't look at this stuff late in the day.
The console is actually pretty easy to take apart. You just have to remove ALL of the screws!!

So after taking it apart, I cleaned it up and got it ready for the color change.
This afternoon I will put it back together.

Re: 91 Suburban O/H Console for my 89 Crew Cab - Need help!
Thanks TK, I am quite happy with the way that it came out.
It will be going into my 89 Red/Black C30 project. I have to do something about the airplane style lights, one of the lens is missing and all four of the outer rubber trim rings are dried and shot. I have an idea as I doubt that there are any parts available for them.

O/H Console Light Covers
I needed something to clean up the dried up old rubber lens surrounds along with needing to do something about the missing lens.
So, back to the SolidWorks design software and our 3D printer for a test run. This is the final configuration that I like. The blue is just the filament that I had loaded.

O/H Console Light Covers
A quick shot of Landau Black to cover the blue.
I have some high-temp filament coming from Germany that I will print the final pieces out of.
