dana closed knuckle swap out. need help

i have a '69 gmc 4x4 3/4ton with closed knuckle dana 44 front, and dana 60 rear. what axles/years would bolt in? i come to believe i cannot use same steering arm if i go higher than 4'' lift. i was hoping a 4'' lift would drop in without "rigging" it up. any thoughts would help as i would like to stay with original axles, thanx, paul

Re: dana closed knuckle swap out. need help

You can use the stock steering arm with 4" but you will experience some bump steer, since you are putting in a newer axle, I would up-grade the steering arm. Any axle 71 and up will bolt in. As for brakes, going with the disc up front, you may need to change your master cylinder to match the new set-up. I did you use a 70 master cylinder(4 wheel drums) with a 71 disc brake front end/drum rear and it worked fine. If you get a 70 front end it will have drums.
