more updates. roll bar, alum driveshaft, nitrous kit... etc

well... i got more done these past couple weeks. got the 8pt roll bar from s and w, there like a 25 minute drive away, which is very convenient. i got my aluminum drive shaft made, finally, its only 3-1/2 but the guy who made it said itll with stand up to 1000hp,

with the roll bar i decided to strip the interior, like the carpet and what not.

the blue seats i had in last time i traded to my buddy for his nitrous kit, that was what the thread i posted about the nitrous for him, he decided he didnt
wanna mess with it.

my purging system is coming in the mail tonight, along with the safety blow down tube and valve and stuff

i undercoated the floor, finished running all my brake lines as well as the line lock, and finally got inside and outside of rims drilled and put the rims screws in

here are some pictures taken last week.

That fuel setup being beside the driveshaft looks a little dangerous to me. If the joint breaks and takes out your filter/line and sprays gas every where not going to be good.

im putting a drive shaft loop on the cross member, so i think ill be fine. hopfully lol

but the u-joints are 1350s which are beasts compared to the 1310 stock ones.

custom 70 is right...please contemplate putting the tank behind the axle...better for weight distribution as well as safety...

The other thing I notice was the regulator on the firewall. Not sure tech will let that fly.

Unfortunately the tech guy/girl won't care.. I have heard that you can bend a U shaped piece of metal mount that to the fire wall then mount the regulator to that. I can't promise that will pass, but that's the rumor I have heard. Just trying to save you some grief.

Are you running the stock front brake system?

Is your rollbar tied into the frame beneath the cab?

its the stock setup, but new rotors, calipers, lines and prop. valve. and with a linelock

no, instead of cuting through the floor we welded 6x6 inch plates to the floor then the bars to the plate. s and w race cars sed that was legal to do.

Re: more updates. roll bar, alum driveshaft, nitrous kit... etc

I believe you need out riggers from the frame to the bottom of those 6x6's.. In a frame vehicle the cage has to tie in to the frame. It sucks because our frames are so narrow.

It will pass till he makes a full pass and runs under 11.49, and then he's toast. Like Super said, no matter what S&W told / sold you, the roll bar / cage MUST be tied to the stock frame,, no if's, and's, or butt's

Quote:

ALL CARS WITH FULL FRAME MUST HAVE ROLL BAR ATTACHED TO FRAME
As suggested, build outriggers (od same diameter as main hoop) that come from the frame, up to sandwich the cab floor between a upper and lower 6x6 pad and you'll pass.

However I do want to say,,, BEAUTIFULL build so far. And as far as tech items,, all you can do is hope, and modify/fix if they deny your tech card. If your planning on spending much time at the track, PLEASE get yourself a rule book and check things out throughout your build. Every rule in there was created because someone got hurt doing it otherwise. May not be you, may be a spectator or the guy in the other lane next to you. It's a frustrating and expensive journey, but the worth doing right.

thank you. and yes im changing my belt setup, going with no power steering with an electric pump. so ill be machining a bracket that will mount the regulator to the head. and yes that makes sense, i will weld on frame out riggers. ill be getting a rule book asap. and thanks for the compliment, its been fun so far, i just want to drive it so badly, but hey, all good things take time.
