What did you get done?
Well gang what did you get done this weekend? Anything on your truck that we want to hear about? How about anything interesting you did in general?
I spent the evenings and weekend trying to get my 77 detailed for Texas Heatwave this coming week. I'm leaving early Friday morning so time is running out. The undercarriage is cleaned, painted and put back together. All the wheels are polished front and back and on as well. As soon as I finish cleaning the lower part of the truck its going to hit the ground. Currently I am cleaning all the dead bugs from behind the grill and detailing the front end.... ![]() What did you get done? |

Installed a new radiator from O'Reilly Auto Parts. No more leaks and running a little cooler now!

I went to put new tires on the Blazer, and drive it to work Saturday. Friday night, as I am jacking it up, I decide to check the ball joints. The right side felt really loose, so I pull the wheels off. The ball joint is completely out of the arm!! I went to the pick-a-part twice this weekend, and scored lots of good stuff. I had a buddy bring me a new arm, and we installed ball joints and packed teh front wheel bearings too. I shoul;d probably get my tires tomorrow.

Swapped on an old holley I had around to see if my Q-Jet was holding me back on power. After flooding the crap out of the engine because of a power valve gasket not seated properly and using probably 5 gallons of fuel within minutes, then it quit on me and my battery died after I got it back after driving. So I have now decided to drop some cash on a new Edelbrock Performer because i'm tired of rebuilding and messing with carbs.

Put a new fan shroud on the dually (which required yanking the radiator). Took forever finding a new gasket for the drain plug - Autozone didn't have one, but I eventually found one that worked in my parts stash. Scored a good A/C compressor on a burb a local guy is parting out! So next weekend will be the A/C repair project. That'll be nice to have working since it's starting to get hot here finally.
Got one of the new fiberglass bumpers mounted on the Nova and deceided to take it for a little driver around town - always fun driving that thing around. Started it up and backed it out of the garage and less than 5 minutes later the local cop drove by. I can't get away with anything in that car.

Got my u-joints replaced finally (after a week's worth of sweating and hitting myself with a hammer). NOTE: The correct tools make the job go more easily... harbor freight's 3-in-1 service kit... basically a C-clamp that has a 7/8" head on it and works BEAUTIFULLY. 39.99

I Ordered stainless steel braided fuel hose and AN fittings (those fittings are EXPENSIVE!!!) and flush and refilled the coolant on the Honda. Added coolant to the Tahoe. That's it.

Drove the 75 to work friday. Nothing worng with it so tarped it and let it sit.
Saturday I though I know what my run problem was with the 86 4Runner. Put a new timing chain on it and it runs better but still not right. Foun the $%^&#$^$%^#&*#^$*(#(@&*@(*$*(@#^@#%&*(@# Machine shop that did the head before I owned really *$&$%&^#( it up. They did a valve job and made the valves sit a little deeper into the head. That's fine that happens. They didn't however grind a little off the top of the stems to put the rockers at the correct angle. The top of the stem is actually hitting the arm. ![]() So Sunday I was pissed at it and worked on the Airstream.
