How to keep motor cool after you shut it off???

My motor runs about 190* when it is running. But as soon as I cut it off, the temps rise to about 220*. Is there anyway to keep it cool after the ignition is cut off?

Thats normal because it's not circulating when it's off. You could always pop the hood open to help cool it down.

When I had my 195* thermostat in the Olds, the temperature would spike to 240* on hot days after shutting it down, and sometimes even hit 220* when driving it in the city (!). This is why I put the 180* thermo in there. STill spikes when I shut it down, but as soon as you start it up again, it'll cool off. It's normal.

same thing happens to me, I assumed it was normal. But how come in newer cars like my 2000 chevy it never happens. It always stays at normal operating temp (unless its warming up).
