corvette pics...

thought maybe some of you guys would enjoy these. found a few of my dad's old slides of his 58(?) corvette. that's him in the drivers seat. year would be about 64, 65, maybe? i'll have to call him and ask. he had a laundry list of cool cars... '57 bonneville convertible with fuel injected 347, 66 SS chevelle, 69 firebird, 70 chevelle, and on and on.....
EDIT (i zoomed in on the front shot, and the tag on the license appears to be '63....)

Blasphemy! Best would be '57, followed by '67... We could start a whole new thread, lol

724, those are great pics... they bring back a lot of memories... and I can't believe how affordable most of those cars were back then, even taking into account low wages!

Re: corvette pics...

i'll see if i can find some pics of his 57 bonneville. that's the one he really kicks himself for selling. 8 lug mag wheels, chevy 3 speed, longer than my pickup! i've seen the pics, it was awesome! and his 69 fire chicken, white, 400/4spd.... uh! i want it! apparently that was the car i rode home from the hospital in when i was born.

the reason for the chevy 3 speed in the bonneville was they were cheaper, and he was kinda hard on them. he had a 55 gallon drum of trannies in the shop he worked at (Logan Chevrolet in Walla Walla, WA), and a tool kit of everything you'd need (and only those things you'd need to swap one). one of his favorite stories is giving a ride to a guy who was a chevy man and was bragging about how tough the trannies were. they were at a stop light down the block from the shop, and at the green light, he ripped away from the intersection. apparently the first to second shift was the killer, and he scattered the gears all over the street! with just enough speed to coast to the shop door, within a half an hour, they were back on the street. yeah, he did it a few times...

then there's my grandpa's 67 GTO that my uncle has. bought it new in 67, has about 75,000 miles. metallic blue with white vinyl interior. 400/400 with his & hers shifter. i want that one, too! it's a serious survivor! maybe if i'm nice, it might get passed down to me....

or my aunt's 50 dodge(? - maybe it was a GMC) pickup with the buick nailhead my grandpa built for her. it was a dual quad 420, i think. what i really remember is my dad telling me that grandpa was riding with him one day, and my aunt passed them at over 100 mph. that was the end of the pickup!

wow... good memories! wish grandpa was still here... i could learn a lot from him. the guy built his own boat when my dad was a kid... but he didnt have the tools, so he built those too! a drill press using sewer pipe, connecting rods... and a band saw with pontiac frame, pontiac steel wheels... both are still in use today at my uncle's...

Re: corvette pics...

That`s a nice one in a grat color for that year.First "trimmed-out" Vette.I`m with Stocker,it`s`57 for me.I would settle for any Vette with chrome bumpers.Although post`67 would have to be a big block.I had a`67 Black on black Coupe:leather,A/C,Tilt/Tele,all comforts, then 427,4spd,posi,disc.I bought it for $7,000 in`78 when I was dating a girl that liked that kinda stuff and all I had was a 4wd with 14.50x37" tires.Kinda got civilized.I sold it because I really wasn`t settled yet and couldn`t be sure of it`s safe keeping.I came back from out west and ran into the same girl, started dating. Her x-boyfriend had bought her a yellow t-top`72 big block with sidepipes. She let me drive.About it for my"Vette" experience. All downhill from there.

Re: corvette pics...

Nice pics. Wish dad still had the '66 GTO. Or the '70 Charger R/T. Or the '57 Chevy. Or the '70 Plymouth GTX. Or the '82 Vette. List goes on. Hard top to the vette behind in first pic.
