Turbo 400 Kick down??? Help!!!!!! - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I am going to pull the trans tomorrow and put in the new boss hog stall and I want to fix the kick down. I checked the switch at the gas pedal and when it is mashed down it works with the test light. What in the trans makes it kick into passing gear and what do I need to check? Thanks in advance.

theres a fitting on the drivers side of the trans the out wire from the swicth get's connected there. and you can adjust the swith a little to change kick down time..

i used a B&M carb mounted swith to controll mine

My switch seems to be working when I checked it with the test light but the trans will not kick down. Do you think it needs adjusting or something needs replaced? Can I fix it later with the trans in the truck or will it need to be fixed with the trans out? Thanks for the quick reply, that is why I love this site.

If you are getting power at WOT on the transmission case connector, it is probably a bad solenoid in the trans. It's easy to test with the pan off- just apply battery + to the connector & you should hear it "click".

I get the same response with my setup, so I'm curious about any answers as well.

I added the B&M switch, hooked it to the tranny. With the switch on I can hear the solenoid operate inside the trans when I depress the peddle more than half way, but still the tranny is reluctant to kick down.
