Some pics of my old FarmTruk
Howdy everbody...I'm fairly new here, but have been posting quite a bit, just 'cuz I love this forum. I thought ya'll might like to see a few pics of my future project.
This truck was bought new from the local dealer by my Grandpa. It came to me when he passed, and it has lived its entire life to this day on our farm. It is a reliable, hard worker, and shows the long hours it's put in hauling stuff all around. ![]() We are a little more gentle with her these days, as her younger, adopted brother, a '79 Toyota 4X4, now does most of the heavy stuff. ![]() But we still love her, and would never think of getting rid of her. I think she'll make a great candidate for a future project, but that is still a few years down the road.

That's a survivor for sure. Not bad considering its age and how it's been used. Even ol Buddy likes it!

Not a bad looking rig FARMTRUK, mine was in about same condition until I picked it up and now it looks like this but still has a ways to go. You have a good foundation to start at least.

Re: Some pics of my old FarmTruk
Yep, she's a survivor alright. The odo shows 40k
![]() The buddy in back is Daisy. She loves the truck too. I don't let her drive it, but she can ride in back every day. ![]() Sorry 'bout the crappy pics, but my digi camera is on assignment in another state. No biggie though, as the truck doesn't look any better with a sharper image ![]() ![]() Couple more fuzzy pics...

Re: Some pics of my old FarmTruk
Thats a keeper for sure, especially since gramps bought it new, that is something you can't buy. There are a lot of previous farm trucks on here that have gone into retirement that are now better than new !!!

Re: Some pics of my old FarmTruk
Cool truck.
My 68 was my grandpa's farm truck, too. But after gramps died, mine sat in a back pasture for 13 years before I got it, so it's a little rougher. ![]() I have been working on her for a couple of years and she is still rough, but she does not have to work hard anymore, just make some short trips to Home Depot and to our fishing hole. ![]() Keep on enjoying the truck.

I'd debated if I should wash the mud off, but figured why not show it the way it usually is. I'll try to get some more pics posted to further inflate (deflate?) my ego. ![]() Yep...got a few more pics here...

Re: Some pics of my old FarmTruk
How does that 307 work for you?
Mine seems to be holding up pretty well, but it only has 46,000 miles on the clock. Her hardest years were the 13 she spent sitting still in a pasture. My truck sure isn't pretty, but I get a good laugh everytime we go for a drive. My 5 year old son LOVES it, too.

It doesn't get anymore American than that, an old Chevy truck on a farm with a lab in the back! What a cool truck.

Re: Some pics of my old FarmTruk
Thanks again for the kind comments.
TruckinDaddy, believe it or not, the 307 runs GREAT. Had to put a rebuilt carb on this summer, and it solved alot of the drivability issues. It's down on power compared to newer trucks, but she throws the mud pretty good on the farm. I luv my old FarmTruk.

Re: Some pics of my old FarmTruk
Now an odd question. What color is your block? Mine is blue. I can't tell what color the heads were, but the valve covers/intake and accessories are orange. I have not seen another stock 68 307 yet to see if they were all blue and orange.
Several guys have told me it wasn't made that way. But I swear this engine has never been out of the truck.

![]() ![]() ![]() No, seriously though, the block, heads, valve covers, intake are all orange. And I guarantee that they have never been out of the truck or painted. Is it possible your block was painted at some point while still in the truck?

Re: Some pics of my old FarmTruk
Very cool truck, not as beat up as mine is. Hey did you steal the tailgate off my truck and spray some blue paint on it?!?!? Mine used to be a farm truck till it was retired in '96. It was a '70 C/20 chassis-cab with a stakebed and had a 350/4 speed when it was new. When my Grandpaw bought it around '78-'79 it had a long fleetside bed, a cab that came from a '70 Longhorn, and a 71-72 grille. Best I can remember it had a 327/TH350. I figure it has about 200 something thousand miles on the original rear axle and chassis.
