Oh yeah I remember when that kit came out , at the time seemed like a good idea but they leaked like a sieve, and didn't care for that big black seal that went over the windshield, glad I passed

Re: Sun tiger conversion???

I got anudder vision.

Get rid of the vents, cut down the front door post and install some one-piece windows. Then, clean it up (get it out of the 80s ), add a Carson top ...

Thumbs up Re: Sun tiger conversion???

I remember in the early to mid 80's every mini truck was sportin' that conversion i don't think i ever saw any full size trucks with it.

Actually it dosen't look that bad i don't think id'e ever drive something likt it but it's definatly differant and if your trying to set your self apart from all the other cookie cutter trucks out there then thats the way to do it.

I think he needs to lay off the crack pipe a bit cuz he's gotta be high if he thinks someone will BIN For 15K! and his starting bid is 7.5K maybe that's why it's not selling.

He may have that in it but i don't think the truck is worth any thing over 3k.

The way he has his add set up is like he's trying to give the impression that it's some kind of rare factory limited production model and that it's worth more than he's asking for it.

It might look a little better (not much, just a little) if it had a fleetside bed on it.

Re: Sun tiger conversion???

yea i see what you mean dropping/chopping the window and removing the vent would make it look alot better.

The Dakota was the only factory convertable truck ever produced it was not an aftremarket conversion.

Re: Sun tiger conversion???

I have never seen a 4x4 dakota vert, only the shelby verts. Those were nice for a dakota! Bet the price is up there for a nice 1 now.
I remember a s10 removeable roof conversion into the mid 90s. It was a 1 piece plexi glass or lexan that replaced the rear window and most of the roof. I remember it being a nice setup.

Bruce -

I remember seeing the same thing on the eariler mini-trucks. That and the tilt-bed trend. I don't recall the name of the company, but a company (used a drawing of a cartoonish rat named Rodney???) offered them for the mini-truck world.

As you said, since it's not a factory conversion, one may be able to cutup a stock truck and build one for less $$$.

I used babyblue's stepside as a base, since it's so clean. The pic is a bit small. I made it a collaspible Carson top - i.e. a Bop Top that could be removed and stashed away in the bed of the truck. I decided to carry the tonneau cover snaps over to the removable top. To give the side of the Top some mass, I shortened the door and increased the side-width of the rear of the cab, a couple of inches. Then, extended the front of the top for the look of a visor. Finally, swapped in a peep mirror.
