Gas tank??
What are my options for replacing or repairing a stock leaking (slow drips) gas tank on a 72 blazer? I heard the repos are complete junk and have to be made to fit. What is involved in repairing a stock tank? How much? I would rather have a brand new tank but want one that will just bolt in correctly and preferably be made in the usa. Poly or steel?

Re: Gas tank??
I just bought a new tank for my K5 - here is the link http://bowtiebits.com/osc/product_in...oducts_id=1498
I cut off their filler and used a short piece of rubber fuel hose to attach the filler from my existing tank. After doing that it worked just fine. It does come with I think two vent holes that I had soldered shut. There is a thread maybe 1-2 months ago by Herb101 that has great info on tanks and has some pics of my new tank on the second page. When I took my old tank in originally to be repaired it turned out too rotten to repair. When I started cleaning that black stuff off the tank there were tons of pin holes spraying out gas.

Re: Gas tank??
Anyone ever use that gas tank renu process? They blast and coat your old tank and guarantee it for life nationwide. I think I will check into that.

Re: Gas tank??
Well I took tank to gas tank renu and got a quote. He wants $385 to fix my stock tank! I am not doing that. I think I will try some diy sealers for now.

Re: Gas tank??
UPDATE: I finally got tank sealed up. PO had a couple of patches in there, and one was leaking. I ended up ordering a quart of POR-15's fuel tank sealer. I already have used their paint and I had some of the prep stuff left over. It cost me about $39 shipped for it. It is way better than the $385 the other place wanted to try to seal it. Anyways still letting it dry but I am fairly sure she is good. I coated it both inside and outside and then primed and painted it. Now I am just curious if I can plug 2 of the 5 openings or vents. I just plan to hook up the 2 to the fill hole and one for the fuel sender. The other 2 small side vents I just plan to plug. I am not running the emission crap. Do you think that will be al right? I also assume the 2 vents are the 2 small fittings up top one on each side.
