Door Weatherstrip

I changed out the rusted, no, make that really rusted doors on my 80 this weekend with doors from an 85 Blazer. The gaps still need a little work but they’re pretty close. I can’t seem to get the top of the door close though. I tried pulling the window frame in but a large gap remains. Yes, I do need new weatherstrip but new stuff isn’t going to close this one up.

While looking at the LMC catalog I noticed another piece of weatherstrip that goes on the door in addition to the strip for the cab opening. See number 2 in the attached picture. I don’t recall this part being on any of the trucks I previously owned.

Any input?

Thanks!

Bryan

Re: Door Weatherstrip

Thanks. I just didn't remember anything attached to the door. Sure am glad I didn't pull on the door enough to make it fit!

Re: Door Weatherstrip

I was having the same problem...new doors, big gap...LOTS of wind noise. I when the cheap route and stopped by the hardware store and got some RV rubber seal tape stuff, the tape wasn't sticky enough to hold it in place so i used a little black silicone, worked like a charm. Door closes nice and tight and make a great seal...and in total i think it cost about $10 (with left overs).

Re: Door Weatherstrip

OK, I'm a PIA! Could one of you guys with the factory weatherstrip post a picture of it?

Huge Thanks!

Re: Door Weatherstrip

Sorry, I haven't any pics but the rubber strip should run from the window sill, over the door to the window sill on the other side, as shown in your pic.

Thanks. I wasn't sure if the LMC photo was a good indication of where the rubber would go.
