Re: How much are you paying for 67-72 truck registration?

well, I pay about 60 dollars a year on both of my vehicles, but those are for specialty plates. I always get the Tennessee Sons of Confederate Veterans License plates, because xxxx amount of my registration fee goes as a direct contribution to teh SCV heritage defense fund.

these ain't my plates, but both my 96 Neon, and my 67 GMC both have similar plates.

Re: How much are you paying for 67-72 truck registration?

$76, American, up here above you in the People's Republic of CA, for my '69 C-10.
And that was just last month.
In Feb., I registered my '72 GMC 3/4 T for $136 & my '72 Fury for $51.

I'd check last year's registration and see if there was a big jump.
If there was, I'd be calling DMV and simply asking, "WTF?"

On the other hand, I would be surprised if the legislature and Ahhnold sneaked something through with little publicity, or fanfare.

Re: How much are you paying for 67-72 truck registration?

Chuck, I am officially jealous.

My K20 was $133 last time don't even get me started... That's for commercial plates, which I would agree with if I used my truck to make a living... but I drive it less than a thousand miles a year and don't tear up the roads too much . I recall several years ago it cost me $49, and has been steadily climbing since then.

I pay $0 every year.

Mine is registered as historical/vintage and was a one time fee of $77ish. You should check if you state has the same sort of deal.

What did the PO tell DMV was the selling price?
I always conspire with the seller to list it as cheaply as possible, without being ridiculous, to lower registration fees.
It usually works. The kind of folks I deal with generally hate taxes as much as I do, so we go out of our way to have as little stolen from us as possible.
Pick ups here are registered as commercial vehicles here in the People's Republic. Don't ask me why.

Red face Re: How much are you paying for 67-72 truck registration?

I paid $15.00 when I first bought my 72 C-10 My brother works for the DMV. I just wrote him out a check and he took care of it. I guess I have to wait and see what the first renewal fee will be? From what my brother told me any open bed vehicle is clasafied commercial in the state of Ca. even a El camino only way around that would be to have a campershell permenently attacehed. it's a diferent weight class after sixthousanone and tentousandone and so on depending on the axles.

Re: How much are you paying for 67-72 truck registration?

It ain`t apples to apples comparing historic vehicle rates with regular registration. It shouldn`t matter how much you paid for a vehicle. That`s a sales tax matter and only changed at time sale.
Does your DMV charge the same for SUVs,which are in the same GVW class and have a higher net weight?

Re: How much are you paying for 67-72 truck registration?

Here in MN I pay $39.50 a year. Since I first licensed a car in 1984 it has gone up $1. Anything 10 years old and older is $39.50.

We do have a collector tag that is a one time fee but it restricts you to rules similar to what tommypic stated in his state. I don't want to restrict how/where I drive so I still put a regular license on it.

Illinois sucks. It costed me 168.00 to plate my truck. If I was still in Indiana...it would cost me 26.00

I think its about $50, but the last time was the first time, so I was paying sales tax and title transfer fees as well, for a whopping $250 or so.

Re: How much are you paying for 67-72 truck registration?

Mine has gone up to $52. That's a dollar a week. I registered mine with a camper on it and got regular (no weight fee) plates.
I'm going to look into this "historic" angle and report back.

OK,reporting back on Cal. "Historic Vehicle" potential; I found this "...operated or moved over the highway primarily for the purpose of historical exhibition or other similar purpose..."
and ".... A vehicle which was manufactured after 1922, is at least 25 years old, and is of historic interest."

I don't think this would be too amusing to the first CHP officer that saw me with 2 pallets of sod in the back.

Okay, here in Arkansas, I have three options.

Option 1: a regular plate for $26/year
Option 2: an "Antique Car" plate for a one-time fee of $7.00 when I got the plate in '01. No annual renewal fee.
Option 3: a VietNam Veteran plate for $3.75/year.
