Sat pics (5-24) belated Maggie Valley highlights

Well, today was a busy day. Christy and I got up just a bit after 4 this morning so we could be on the road just after 5 to head to Rogersville Tn. It was about a 4hr drive with the C10 in the wind! We spent the day hanging out with a handful of board members and checking out the awesome grounds at Memory Lane as well as the monstrous number of cars in attendance. Of course the trip home was a bit longer after a brief detour for a parts pickup attempt in Knoxville (Hi David!) and a Worthless delivery in Cleveland. Needless to say......I'm Beat!!! After reviewing my pics from today I think I only have pics of 16 complete cars. Everything else is just details of this or that that I thought was interesting. It's not that the cars weren't there (I was there at 9:30 in the morning and my number was 434) I guess I just tried to shoot things that just really caught my eye. So I guess I'll save the pics I took today for another week when I don't have anything significant to share.

So....Mr Kaylor said I have the go ahead to share some Maggie Valley pics with you (and they've been requested by a lot of you) So let's get started!

I've always wanted to stop and shoot a pic of this sign and finally took the time to do it! Note the amenities....Remote cable TV! Electric heat and air conditioning!

For some reason I never ended up with a pic of the front of this truck. It was purchased new by the owners father and I think he said he has spent the last 15 yrs and 50K rebuilding it.

It had real wood (not tape) in the lower moldings.

Another nice one.

I didn't think that they were going to let me on the fairgrounds.......Somethin about an apple. ( That's only funny if you know anything about Rodney Carrington and his act, otherwise....not so funny).

Jordan's fresh pickup.

I really liked the door panel treatment.

Sweet!

A first year Chevy pickup.

Very nice! Thanks for sharing. For what it's worth, I went to the the West Coast kustoms show today (it was HUGE) in Santa Maria and...forgot my camera. It's great to see pictures of shows in other parts of the country.

Man your pics are great as always. That blue truck with all the chrome and woodgrain on it is awesome, wonder if he actually drives it though. Keep the pics coming.

Chevyman, the owner of that blue truck used real wood on the woodgrain. It matched the interior wood and the bed.Said he learned to steam bend wood to do it.He had a lot of $$$ tied up in the truck but also a lot of hours. It was very nice.I do think he trailered it though.

Re: Sat pics (5-24) belated Maggie Valley highlights

Thanks guys!

All these pics were shot with my Kodak Easyshare Z712IS. Point and shoot fellas, I just get lucky and get a few that turn out OK from time to time!

The blue truck was trailered but with all that bling I wouldn't have expected it any other way. The truck was super nice as was the owner. He seemed to really enjoy showing it along with his father who had purchased it new.

Tim , I know what you mean about the SSr's being in good shape. I heard a lot of mixed opinions about them being there but they are quite a group of enthusiasts. They've taken cars that are out of most peoples budget (if not due to the price alone it's just the fact that they're an impractical vehicle to drive everyday) and customized them and made them their own. Yeah, some of em are gaudy and if they were given to me the first thing I would do is slap a for sale sign on them and spend the cash on something else. Some of the others are spot on! These guys also seem to have a real sense of camaraderie and good attitudes to boot. I didn't see em walking around downing the other ones in an effort to make their own look better. It seemed that they were all each others friends. I can also give em props for not running for the trailers every time a few rain drops fell. Like it or not their attendance and subsequent income for the show the last couple of years has probably helped keep the show going.

My wife and I kinda have a running joke that you have to be a man over the age of 50 to own a SSR. That's about all that you see driving them around here. I guess they're trying to avoid the Corvette crisis stigma.

Great pics - much appreciated. I think that's the first time I've seen a mirror setup like the duel ones on the light blue 69. The "real" flames are always my favorite.
