Rust Update......
heres some pics of the rust under my sill plates. not bad compared to some of the rust ive seen. but is there a repair panel for this area or do you have to buy whole rockers? my rockers are fine so i really dont wanna buy replacements just for this area. btw, the last pic shows one of the seats going in my truck.... lmao

Re: Rust Update......
Well, I guess you could patch it up, but the right thing to do is replace the rocker. I think once you start digging you'll find it's ate up more than it looks there. As for the truck seat. Looks a little hard to me. But I'm old and need a lot of cushion.

Re: Rust Update......
Look like lots to replace. Start poking around and you will surely find it has worked its way to the inner and outer rockers, as well as the floor and kick pannel.

Re: Rust Update......
like these guys say the rust might be deeper... right where yours is rusted, is where the inner rocker/floorpan, and the rocker come together. they are spot welded there from the factory. the outer rocker actually overlaps the floorpan/inner rocker bu a half inch, and the outer rocker is spotted to it.
you could probably weld a patch in it and be good for a few more years, but like alans pic shows the rust is sometimes like an iceberg, what you see is only 10%. If you really don't want to see the rust again, and or are going for a show truck, compared to a driver, you will have to get a floor pan, and a rocker, and cut and paste until all is gone. look under the truck right under he rust spot , and see how bad off your inner rocker is.. ![]() ![]() |

Re: Rust Update......
Yeah, it sucks, but the best/safest thing to do is go ahead and replace pretty much all of that stuff within 6 or 7 inches of the rusted out spot. And the seat might not have much give...so I would just stick it in the bed of the truck for the passengers that aren't so lucky to ride in the can with ya. Haha
