My son is heading for San Diego!!

Just got done dropping my youngest son Dustin off at the recruiting station, from there they go to K.C. and then fly out in the morning for San Diego. He will be there for Boot Camp [Marines] for 3 months and then back home for 10 days before going to Combat school in North Carolina. Wish him luck!!

He'll do fine. Mine did the same thing in '04. When you see him at graduation, he'll be a changed young man - for the even better.

Re: My son is heading for San Diego!!

Give him a pat on the back and wish him well for all of us.
Our prayers are with him as well as all the others.
We sent three away. They are all back in the states now.
He'll come home with a little more confidence in himself than when he left.

Oh, and send plenty of "care" packages from home.

Or even worse, when you're in your rack at night about to sleep and can see them too cause the barracks are facing the airport.

Re: My son is heading for San Diego!!

My son graduated on the 11th of Jan from MCRD (Marine Corp Recruit Depot) San Diego. We went out and did the family day/Graduation and had a great time there. If you get the chance, do the Grad day. He is home now for some recruiters assistance and will be heading to Florida for Intelligence school next month. I wish your son the best of luck.

Re: My son is heading for San Diego!!

What a difference 12 weeks makes, he's home on boot leave till this tuesday and then its off to combat training at Camp Pendleton and then to Fort Leonard Wood for Military Police school.
He came home 20 pounds heavier than when he left, my oldest son lost 40 during boot camp.

You are rightfully proud.
Please tell him "Thanks" for his service for me, even though none of us have ever met.

Re: My son is heading for San Diego!!

Its been close to a year so I thought I would post an update, Dustin finished MP school in Sept. and was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corp. He was chosen for K-9 training and has been at Lackland AFB in San Antonio TX the last 3 monthes training with bomb dogs.
He leaves this thursday for the Marine Corps Air Station in Yuma AZ where he will be stationed for the next 4 years. Hmm, I wonder if theres any rust free trucks out there in the Arizona desert??

Re: My son is heading for San Diego!!

My dad was an MP for 9 years in the Army, boy does he have some funny stories. Your son looks a lot more mature than in the first pic, and I would take a flatbed to visit him.
