car stereo wiring

ok so i'm pretty confident in trying to install my new cd player in my truck thanks to your guys input on a previous thread, but i still have one question for you stereo gurus. the stereo came with wiring instuctions saying where each individual where should be hooked up. the only trouble i have is understanding where to hook up the remote wire, it is a blue wire and the directions say it hooks up to the antenna. maybe i'm just not understanding but that doesn't really make sense to me. the unit in question is a pioneer cd player (deh-2000). thanks...any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: car stereo wiring

Don't need it in our case. If I recall right that's just for cars that have the power antennas.

Re: car stereo wiring

As long as you have the antenna cable from the antenna plugged into the radio, you don't need the blue wire.

Re: car stereo wiring

Blue wire is for a electric antenna or anything else that needs power after you turn the radio on. Plug the cable from the antenna into back of radio.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Oh just wait until you try anything on a late model vehicle.

Re: car stereo wiring

Yeah, you don't need to use the blue wire unless you have a power antenna. I can't wait to install my cd player. It'll be the easiest car-audio install I've done. 5 wires. Constant, switched, ground, and 2 speaker wires.

Re: car stereo wiring

Blue wire is also used for an amp.
