67 tumbler problem

hey guys new to the site. I just picked up a 67 2wd suburban. it didn't come with a key so after beating and prying I got it all out. bought a new tumbler and ignition switch. problem is I can't get the new tumbler in the new switch. its like the key that came with it doesn't work or somethin. I can put the key all the way in but once its in it won't turn at all it seems pretty straightforward but I can't get it. is there a trick or is this new tumbler bad?
