Front Mount Receiver Hitches?
Anyone have a front receiver hitch on their '67-'72? I'd like to build one for mine, and would like to see what others have done.
Anyone know where I could purchase some generic brackets as circled in red in the attached picture? They are two heavy for me to fab, and would make the rest of my hitch project easy.

Re: Front Mount Receiver Hitches?
Just curious... Are you thinking of doing this to tow the truck or for backing up trailers or something like that.
I thought about adding a front hitch to my bumper on another truck to back my boat up. Some of the ramps on the lake I take it to are way too long and with all the traffic I hate to back it up. |

Re: Front Mount Receiver Hitches?
I guess if I had looked at you location I may have guessed it...
![]() But to answer your question, I have never seen just the mounting brackets by themselves. It's usually the whole assembly. I have seen them on Craigs list on occasion fairly cheap. If you have access to a welder or someone with one, you could make some mounts out of square tubing with ear tabs for bolting to the frame. Since you're just pushing snow and not towing the truck you won't have to adhere to extreme "safety standards" like manufacturers do. |

Re: Front Mount Receiver Hitches?
I'd talk to a trailer/hitch store. I'll bet that even though they have a hitch for every truck in their catalog, theres still a time or two that they have to fab something up special, hence they may have those brackets on the shelf. That or I'm pretty sure they'll have a few take-offs that would have gotten bent up/rusted solid, but the brackets are still good. Just cut 'em off & away you go...

I'd check your local Wally world, they have parts that may suit your needs, i think even autozone here has em

Re: Front Mount Receiver Hitches?
If it`s for a 4wd those brackets won`t work.

Re: Front Mount Receiver Hitches?
It is a 4wd, but the pictures below show what I'm working with (custom kicker brackets which pick up on the motor mount bolts). These kicker brackets would be ideal for a hitch of this type and make for a strong plowing setup.

Re: Front Mount Receiver Hitches?
Ok,I see what you`re working with, now.Couldn`t you just grab any hitch mount, cut it to fit between, and weld to those brackets? It looks ready for a hitch with those brackets. My friend pulled out of the swap meet I was at a couple weeks ago and left me an`00-up Suburban hitch he had $25 on.Someone asked if I`d take $20,it`s gone now.You can find them cheap. The guy that bought mine was hacking what he needed and fabbing it into what his Ford needed.
