Diff between 67-71 and 72 BB motor mounts - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

What is the difference between them. Would they both work with a 69 auto cab? I am thinking of going to a BB, and have noticed I can get my hands on 67-71 mounts much easier than 72 mounts.

Comments anyone?

I discovered I have both. If I get a photo host going here I can post pics.
The 68 - 71 are much taller, and put the engine higher, while the 72 is lower.
Turns out both my 350 powered rigs have them.

I too have searched the world for the elusive photo of a pair of 72 Big Block mounts. The 67-71's will work. They look similar to the small blocks but beefier and I believe a different height. I have several sets of the 68-71 Style in appearance they are similar to the SBC ones,the 72 are very similar to the 73 up pickup style,i can try to get a pic but it wont be today.I have a set of 68-71's for $60

I understand the rubber mount part for the 67-71 are big $$$$$$90 and the 72 are are like $15. Can someone confirm this?

68-71 towers are relatively inexpensive but the rubber is expensive( bought mine from GM). 72 the towers are the big money but the rubber mounts are discount auto store items, so you get it either way.

So what makes the '72 BB towers so much more expensive? I would think there would be more '72 BB trucks out there, hence, more of the mounts available making them cheaper. Anyone care to explain? Thanks, Gary

Why would there be more one year mounts then 4 year mounts?
Like the 67 GMC grill, the 72 big block mounts may never be reproduced, so the older ones will be the more common ones. (like the case is anyways)
