New Forum Suggestion

Although it`s nice to have segregated states,at least most are,I`d like to suggest a new forum under the Regions heading.A crossover forum for things that don`t solely pertain to just one state or region, predominantly one state that includes others, happenings in multi-state regions, etc.I`m in the little state of Maryland and within 1/2 hour of PA,VA,WVA,and fairly close to DE and NJ.I know there are many places simular to mine.Look at the GM Truck Nationals that were in NC,moved to TN,and didn`t really move far enough to change the show, with KY,VA,GA all very close.Portland Oregon is across the river from WA,Kansas city is in two states.Cruising the Gulf is held between LA,MS,AL,and FL.NH,VT,and ME are all tucked together up in the N/E corner together. The Big Apple is as much a part of CT and NJ as it is NY state, closer than most of the state.I could go on.
I am trying to get a mini-meet together in MD and want folks in neighbor states to know. What do I do,break the rules and post double/triple posts?Members in S/E PA and a few of us in MD have had a couple get togethers. We are wanting to have a mini-meet and where they live is so close to NJ and DE that they have good friends they see all the time there.Philadelphia,PA and Wilmington,DE are right there by NJ and NYC.That`s alot of people.
I think all will agree this little tweak will help in perfecting this great feature of the message board and help bring members closer together.

Re: New Forum Suggestion

Yeah,I guess.Only I am in Maryland which this site has listed as Northeast, which it isn`t.It`s still considered the south and is technically the Mid-Atlantic.I am extremely close to VA,WVA,and PA.PA is north and VA/WVA is south. We are all Mid-Atlantic states but are divided between N/E and S/E.WVA borders Mid-Western OH and Northeastern PA but is Southeast. The East coast is more densely populated with smaller states,so this is more crucial here. All over the country there are the dividing lines where people are close yet divided by region. Then there`s others in the same region yet hundreds of miles apart.Midwest? What`s that,Ohio to Arkansas to Iowa to Louisiana? Is Wyoming the N/W or Midwest? The Midwest could be broken down into the Great Lakes region,Central Plains,Rocky Mountain states,High Plains,Great Basin,Mississippi Valley...This country needs to be broken down into way more than 5 regions to really work for getting people together when just one more sub-forum would work to cover it.That`s what I was thinking.

Re: New Forum Suggestion

Tim lets get ideas and input on this. With migrating to the new server, the early year additions as well as some other enhancements in the very near plans. This is a good time to discuss what works and what doesn't. Maybe others can join in and add their ideas.

Re: New Forum Suggestion

I know some of us in the Mid-West are looking at doing the same meet thing. So I could see the validity, and usefulness of it. I know since the revamp of all the states having their own section I go into the regions area less often. I do agree with what was said of that is kind of what the region boards are for. Maybe if we seperated them somehow. To distinguish the regions at the top, and then the list of the states.

For now all you need to do is make a request. I will post your event in any of the regions you want to cover with a redirect to the target forum. I can include it on the "News" page as well.

Re: New Forum Suggestion

Thanks Ken.I`ve seen where others have gotten permission to post across the board for one reason or another. That`ll work in the mean time.
Sometimes individual states and regions just doesn`t work. Some folks are in the corner of both states as well as regions.some are closer to more members in neighboring states than they are most folks in their own states. The more accessible we make mini-meets the more that will attend and assure their success.

Re: New Forum Suggestion

S/K Idea I like. makes more sense to do it that way. like the NW is typically known as WA, OR and ID not some of the others that are in the NW page.

Re: New Forum Suggestion

General discussion is used for off topic threads. I understand your frustration, but it is not a ghost town by far. Its equally as frustrating for the mods of general discussion that have to move the mis posts daily
Its equally frustrating to the admins as every time a thread is moved, it uses server resources which are pretty tight right now.

The migration to the new server is top priority for us. It may seem as if things are taking a while. But lag issues and connectivity take priority over forum changes and additions.

Re: New Forum Suggestion

Can I get my own section so the voices in my head can communicate with each other directly instead of me getting involved with all their dramas.

Re: New Forum Suggestion

I'm all for something that combines close states or possibly just allowing a cross-post between regions when a show applies to two or more regions. As long as that post is done properly...
