383 kit and Procomp heads
Has anyone used the 383 rotating assembly kit and/or Procomp aluminum heads from Skip White? If so, I would appreciate your comments pro or con.

Re: 383 kit and Procomp heads
Put one together for my brother, he bought block, crank assembly and heads from Skip White. Everything checked out great, runs good. Only problem, go ahead and have them notch the block if you get one for the crank and make sure to get a oil pan that will clear the stroker crank. He put it in an 85 Monte Carlo SS, street car runs 6.90's in the 1/8th.

Re: 383 kit and Procomp heads
I honestly haven't heard much good about out of the box ProComp heads. There are a few success stories, however, where people have had porting and polishing done to them.

Re: 383 kit and Procomp heads
I haven't heard many good things about Procomp heads. The rods they use on their stroker kits are questionable, if they are the same Procomp ones they were using a few months ago. They do have good prices on Scat cranks though.

Re: 383 kit and Procomp heads
I was looking at those stroker kits and Googled the kind of steel those rods are made out of compared to Scat rods. They're not as strong a steel.

Re: 383 kit and Procomp heads
I bought a set of those ProComp heads and not sure if any of you guys had any issues. But when I sold them to a friend of mine he wasn't too happy.
What it was, in the center head bolts you had to file down the valve spring washers. So I would hope that have addressed this issue and fixed that problem. But other than that, they seem like good heads for the money.
