stearing vibration/grown noise
so i used my dads 04 ext cab 4x4 this weekend and i am not impressed. when you turn to the left it has a vibration and power stearing noise. you can feel it in the wheel and it feels like it fights you to turn. but when you turn it back to the right not a single noise or anything nice and smooth! is it the pump or the gear box? it does it every time!!

Re: stearing vibration/grown noise
If there's enough play in a steering box then yes, even if you have enough fluid pressure gear lash could make it seem like it's fighting the pump. However, if the pump is cavitating (air in the fluid causing the pump to run inneficiently) it can do this too. Check the fluid and see if you have bubbles. Also check the color of the fluid. When your hoses start to wear out they'll dissolve and change the color of the fluid, which can cause some funny behavior with the pump over time.
