Dually to single wheel

Hello

Just picked dup a nice 88 V30 Crew 4x4 a couple weeks ago. Flew in to Dayton, drove her 670 plus miles and she passed MO inspection with no issues.

What all is required to switch from Dually wheels to a single rear tire? I have a nice long regular bed located and waiting.

Thanks

BC

The rest of the group is better at this then I but I believe all you will have to do is swap rear-ends

Re: Dually to single wheel

Does the truck currently have a dually pickup bed or a flatbed? If it doesn't have or did not originally have a pickup bed then the frame will have to be shortened.

Re: Dually to single wheel

Sorry I should have been more clear sorry....

It is a regular truck with a normal 8 foot dually box. It is NOT a service truck.

I know the spring perches are different on trucks that were origianlly cab and chasis units.

My question is can I just keep the stock rear end and just change wheels ect?

Also what needs to be changed on the front hub also?

Truthfully it is a waste becasue the tires are better than 95 percent new but it is just a little wide for my tastes or needs.

The truck only has 91xxx miles and just needs some paint to be a great truck .

Re: Dually to single wheel

Yank the rear axle and put a 14bolt FF in it. It will bolt right on. The front will have to have the SRW hub assembly, it is pricey and takes some time on the front.

You could nearly trade rear axles with someone, the front end parts can be bought where ever including the dealer.

I have also thought of buying a dually because they are plentiful and cheap. The swap seems easy enough as long as you have a good long bed to go on it.

If you do a google search you will see a million posts on this.

If you have a dana 70hd in the back you will need to run a 14bolt, the fronts you need to change the hubs to the srw ones.

Re: Dually to single wheel

i converted mine. i made it a short bed but left the rear end under it i like the wider look. the front had a dana 60 in it with the dually hubs but it now has a dana 44. im going to run wheel spacers in the front so it will match the rear.

if you dont like the wider look you can put in a 14 bolt ff out of a 1 ton truck and it will bolt right up. or you can put one in from a 3/4 ton truck but you have to move the spring mnts on the axle to match your spring width on your frame.

someone correct me if im wrong

heres some pics of mine... still need to cut the back of the frame to get the bed to sit right

This is correct. All One ton trucks used a spring perch width that is more narrow than the 1/2 and 3/4 tons. So you will either need a Single wheel FF14 Bolt from a one ton or one from a 3/4 ton and move the perches. Make sure you dont get a cab and chassis FF14 bolt as they will move your wheels inward so far they will rub the inside of the wheel tubs. The wheels mounting surface width on the axle you're looking for is 67.5".
