What different types are there and does anyone have pics? Looking to maybe just relocate my tank to the bed, using the same tank and just mount it up against the front, and would like to hide it using a cover. I've got a 68 short fleet. Thanks guys

Checkmate makes a very nice looking, flush mount, cover for vintage trucks.

that's what I have and it looks great.

My only "comlaint" is the front hing is flat while the top of the bed "header panel" is rounded, and it's difficult to mount (drill and screw) into the rounded part.

I'll post a pic later.

I bought mine from Craftec and it was 279.00 to my door. If fits very noce there is no drilling....

I bought an Extang soft cover on an aluminum frame for $250 (frame clamps to rail, cover snaps onto frame)

That sure is a nice looking cover, but 650 is a little steep for me right now!

I have a soft one that I got out of LMC 3 years back. The rails are removable, held in place by camper clamps. Its not the gratest thing in the world, but the no drill thing, the price, and easy installation make up for anything that it lacks.

Gaylords makes the best, hands down. They are fiberglass and run about $1000, but well worth it. You will have the worlds largest trunk.

I would agree...but in my case I need a little more flexabilty.

As strange as it might seem, some folk actually use these trucks occasionally as a TRUCK!

I like the 'glass tip-up tonneaus esthetically, but when I decide to haul something that sits above the bed sides, I don't want to deal with trying to remove the top by myself without scratching something, finding a safe place to store it, then trying to reinstall it by myself without, again, screwing something up. Flexibility ... that's the key word IMHO.

I use my truck as a truck all the time. It is not that difficult to remove if needed. JMHO.

I am going to relocate my tank to the back also, but I didn't want to use the old tank because it would be visible , so I got some help to make up a custom tank, just an idea if you can't cover the box right away and worried what the tank would like. I may cover my box later too, just my 2 cents.
The tank is stainless steel.
