Here is my weekend progress. I wanted to get the bed cut and tacked back together. I am REAL happy with how it turned out!

I have two questions: 1) What did you use to make the cuts and get them so straight? 2) What are the little clamps holding, how do they attach?

I used a skill saw with a 7" metal cutoff wheel. The clamps are made for butting up sheetmetal and aligning it. You have to be able to get to the backside of the panel. They push in between the 2 pieces you are joining/welding. The backside has a square hole that a 1/4" by 1/4" by 1" square piece fits in and butts up against the back of the pieces you are joining. You then tighten the wing nut on it and it lines the pieces up. I'll get a close up picture of it tomorrow. They are a couple bucks at Harbor Freight, worth there weight in gold!

Re: Updates on my 68 project. I now have a rust free 6' bed!!!

Excellent work there!!
Couple of questions
Does the 7" blade go through the whole way or do you have to cut some also?
also why did you cut the back where you did in the middle of rear marker light?
Are you shaving front fender markers also?
How are you people that are cutting down these long boxes getting the angled body line to line up as it slants to the back of the box? Seems it wold take an awful lot of filler to make the body lines look straight.
Any and all insight is appreciated!

Yeah my shop is pretty big. I build manifolds for frack tanks for the oil field. Its got a 12,000lb crane on the ceiling that comes in pretty handy also!

I wish! The 7" blade makes it the whole way thru only at the very top for about 6-8 inches. I am shaving the marker lights. I wondered the same thing about the body lines. By pushing and pulling on the panels you can manipulate them enought to line them up. I will have to use only a small amout of filler when all is said and done if any at all. The back was harder then the front. As you can see the body lines match up and Im not even done stitch welding the joint yet.
