refridge sugar cookie dough jam thingers
tried this one from a "push our products" type cook book.. dang good, and would likely be a bunch better if made from scratch.
1 roll of sugar cookie refridge stuff jam, preserves, jelly of your choice (i just raided the fridge for a variety) open the roll, and cut in half lengthwise. Your goal is to make strips of cookie dough, and frankly the way the recipe told us to do it sucked. Id just slice off small hunks, roll it out in your hand and pat it down a bit in the pan. So anyway.. you cook the dough according to package directions. When the cookies come out and are still warm, use a wooden spoon handle to make a valley in the middle of the strips of cookies. Add jelly in that valley. The recipe did not call for it, but we put them back in the oven for 3 or 4 minutes at this point to set the jelly. When you take em back out, cut em to whatever size you like. Then use a simple glaze and drizzle I used 1/2 cup conf sugar, with a spoonful of milk until it was glazey like. Added a few drops of lemon flavoring, and green food coloring and stirred it up. Drizzle over cookies, then put em in fridge a bit to set. Had them out at room temp yesterday, and they were good.. but were MUCH better when chilled. |
