WTB: 73-80 vent windows

Looking for 73-80 vent windows in good condition. Don't want to modify the 81-87 ones to fit, just looking for 73-80 exclusively.

Can have them shipped to a US address.

Re: WTB: 73-80 vent windows

That would be cool, if it's not too much trouble. Looking for ones in good shape though, with no rust. The ones on my truck currently are rusting and starting to rot in the corners.

Oh and i haven't received those door panels yet eh. They're still at the Hamburg NY address, but the guy my dad works with hasn't made a trip over the border yet...in case you were wondering why i hadn't let you know yet. I'm hoping to have my hands on them shortly.

Darren, the 73-80 ones are a little different than the 81-87 ones. Has to do with the mounting screws. The 81-87 ones can be used on a 73-80 truck, there's just a difference in the number of mounting screws...but i'd sooner just find 2 nice ones from 73-80. The LMC Catalog shows the minor differences in the years.

Well, the burb is still there, but the windows are in tough shape.
Sorry, Eric

Re: WTB: 73-80 vent windows

i used 89 vents in a 78
worked ok and now have locks on them
from what i saw you could drill a hole to catch the second bolt

Re: WTB: 73-80 vent windows

I always use the newer ones after trying to rebuild a set of the earlier vent glasses. The shape of the glass pane is different at the top as well.

That's an option i may have to look into. But i figured i'd try and see if i can find some originals from 73-80 first, before going the other route. Thanks for the info.

You always use the newer ones in the 73-80 trucks ? I didn't know the shape of the glass pane is different...i just thought their was a slight difference in the arm with the bolts.

If I need a set, i try to find a 89-91 Sub in the pick a part. I figure they have had the least exposure of these trucks, and would have the best chance of being in good shape. Aside from not being able to put in the 1 screw on the front, that's the only problem I have had. I've done it this way on my last 4 trucks.

I found out the hard way the glass is different. Someone decided to help themselves to the stereo I had in my '87. I had vent glasses from my '77 Blazer, and it wouldn't work. I ended up having to buy a glass, as I needed it right away. The top of the glass is shorter, and more rounded on the newer trucks.

Re: WTB: 73-80 vent windows

If you havent found any yet I have a pair out of a set of 73 doors that were pulled from a 66K mile truck.... I sold the door panels to a board member a while ago but the wing windws are nice too... I too was not aware there were any differences between the 73-80 and the 81-87 windows....
