Tach Help
Guys,
on the Desert Fox I just bought the tach is acting really wierd? When I turn the key not starting the engine the needle moves to the right and pegs out at the very bottom never seen this before? When the truck starts the tach does nothing but remain bottom out? Thanks Matt Last edited by Navy_chief; 06-04-2011 at 05:54 PM. |

Re: Tach Help
if you are willing to tear into the dash and pull the gauges out than you could look on the back of the tach and it will tell you where the wires are supposed to go and you could run new wires but to me it sounds like either your ground is disconnected or that you have a short in the ignition wire...

Re: Tach Help
The tach is wired independently of all other gauges;there are 3 wires;ground, positive feed and signal.the signal one is a white wire that goes to the distributor;I would disconnect this under the hood and see if anything changes;I would also check the ground (black).
If this does not solve the problem it may be in the circuit board on the tach. You can get these rebuilt but it is usually easier to pick a good used unit up. Welcome to the "Chevy/GMC Truck Special Edition" owner group |
