WOMEN WHO KNOW THEIR PLACE

Barbara Walters did a story on gender roles in Kabul, Afghanistan, several
Years before our involvement in the Afghan conflict.

She noted that women customarily walked five paces behind their husbands.

She recently returned to Kabul , and observed that women still walk behind
Their husbands. Despite the overthrow of the oppressive Taliban regime, the
Women now seem to, and are happy to, maintain the old custom.

Ms. Walters approached one of the Afghani women and asked, "Why do you now
Seem happy with an old custom that you once tried so desperately to change?"

The woman looked Ms. Walters straight in the eyes, and without hesitation
Said, "Land Mines."

No matter what language you speak or where you go, the moral of this story is,
BEHIND EVERY MAN, THERE'S A SMART WOMAN.

this story reminds me of my bud charlie who came to pick up a trans i had just re built for his log truck one night. now, you gotta know charlie. when you open an encyclopedia & look up "good 'ole boy" there is charlie's picture. anyway i have sirius radio in my shop & that night i had the classic radio show channel going. two mobsters were talking to each other when one of them's girl friend mouths off to them. charlie had by this time of night had done got pretty deep in the jug & was standing staring at the speakers like it was a tv. after the dame had stopped talking you heard, step, step, step & then slap! slap! slap! "listen here toots! if we want anything outta you, we'll ask for it, see? until then keep yer yapper shut or hit the bricks!" charlie rared back on his heels & said "holy $*&! that's back when men were men & women knew when to keep their D@&% mouths shut! gotta love charlie!
