so,i'm going thru the freezer.
so,i'm kinda nosing thru the freezer sice the mrs.is at work and i'm on my own tonite i thought i'd barbeque something.i come across a ziploc bag that says 10/19/09 with two new yorks in it.they look a little frosty.but, after thawing a few hours i think they look o.k.....but,i research some crap on the internet and start to wonder...hell,"eskimos ate frozen wooly mamoths"...i read on...."never anything over a year"..i read what some lady says.....so,like most things on the internet you get extremes in all directions...what do you think, are they o.k ?

Re: so,i'm going thru the freezer.
Personally, I wouldn't. I've had food poisoning a couple of times, and it's not much fun. All my wife has to do is ask me "...does this smell OK to you?" and it's automatically bad, but that's just me.
A friend of mine can eat four-day-old summer road-kill, and it doesn't bother him, so maybe I'm a wimp, but I'd rather not eat at all, then take a chance.........

Re: so,i'm going thru the freezer.
Foodsafety-wise, as long as they've been frozen, they're fine.
Quality-wise, the longer they're in the freezer the more the flavor of the meat is affected. My $.02.

Re: so,i'm going thru the freezer.
the fact that they looked frosty tells me that even if they are "safe" to eat...they won't taste good....

Re: so,i'm going thru the freezer.
ive eaten out of the trash and not gotten sick. ive eaten old food from the fridge or that ive left out for days with nothing happening. same with the undercooked chicken. strangely a week ago i ate one of those gram cracker pb an j sandwiches that had been in the work fridge since who knows when and that made my stomach hurt for a couple hours. it was all soggy but i was hungry =)
