![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() this is how far I got sunday, today I just installed the intake. I am using a 94 k2500 pcm (16197427) ready for a 4l80e but am going to have that spooled and set aside.

Looks like fun. LOL. I'm curious what kind of gas mileage you will get. I just put a 4 barrel on my 307.

I am wondering why you chose the 4l80e over the 4l60e? Was it just an availibility thing ? On the bright side it would take two of the normal 307's to break the 4l80e [jk]

Great looking job! Are you sure the ECM can stay there and not interfere with the cluster? I put TPI in one, and it was an a/c truck, but I ended up with the ECM behind the glove box (I had to really cut up the glove box liner)

![]() ![]() ![]() there are 2 issues, one a bed support rail had to get notched and the second there is interference with the fill tube and where the decking is suppose to be.

Man I must be getting old;
I felt that wiring up the electric choke on my carb was a great accomplishment. After looking at all of that wiring (spaghetti), I realized I'm just an old man. I really look forward to this thread, can't wait till its up and running. I was trying to read those schematics and had a few questions. 1) if you have a manual tranny, does it need to be wired up? 2) if your not running A/C, can all of that wiring be eliminated? with a manual tranny or th350/400 the pcm has to be set in manual mode, and dose not have to be wired up. yes the a/c wires can be eliminated

Great work! I love seeing people mess with under-appreciated, underrated engines. A 307 with EFI is definitely something you don't see everyday.

a 307 is same crank and cam as a 327 so yes a nice start. I am doing efi so can be daily driver and so I can make a trip to get a cab for my other truck. this one is going to be show and my other is service

Oh yeah, I'm very familiar with 307's. We built one years ago out of basically just leftover stuff on a shoestring budget for a buddy of mine. He didn't have much money, but had collected up some old, out of date, but decent parts, so we freshened up a fairly low mileage 307 short block that I gave him, and put with a set of ported 62cc 461 double humps, a small Lunati solid cam, an old Holley single hi rise from the 70's, and a 650 Holley DP, and that little engine screamed! No one at the local track wanted to believe it was a 307.

what about seeing a 427 sbc fiero. the fiero was wreck and the short block got stolen out my garage. it was a 400 4 bolt with a 4.2-4.3 crank (cant remember what I had in it)

283 slugs with a 327 crank. granted the 307 is one of the under appreciated smog motors, but they are good runners and with a bit of tweaking, can be a great little mill.
I'll be watching this one for future projects..... subscribed

hummm, not to get off track, but I do believe the 307's were smog motors. not necessarily just sold to the CA market.
I need to find my GM motor info sheets and check it out. if your correct 406, you have just taught me a valuable lesson!!

307 was just the higher torque replacement for the 283. Remember that CA had smog requirements long before any other states did. The 307 was to dirty for CA.
