Cool First EVER!

OK here is the metal 7 up cooler as I bought it and now after spending 8 hrs redoing it. It needs a drain plug if anybody has one for it.I think it turned out OK for my first one..

This is what was inside for insulation!

I took both sides off and all the hardware and re did them the best I could. I put in all new pop ribets also.

I also bought this foam insulation to help with keeping the ice better.

Put new seal all around the top to!

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: First EVER!

That came out nice and will work better than new! Maybe you can steal a drain plug from another cooler that's cheap and messed up. Or,use plumbing parts.

Cool Re: First EVER!

Thanks, yea I thought about the boat plugs. I have a older cooler that I may use the plug out of it if I can't find one.

Re: First EVER!

I wish I had $100+ for it. I'd buy it and polish her up to a mirror finish and redo the 7-Up logo. Man it would look good in my 88!

Question Re: First EVER!

Well I started on the pleasure chest today. I sanded it down and getting it ready for primer. I know some of you will hate this but I have a plan for this one to match my truck paint scheme so stay tuned! I be updating as I go. I used a 4" grinder with a cup brush to clean it up.

How it started.

After I brushed it.

Got to fix this. What do you guys suggest I use.

Re: First EVER!

You could try some aluminum solder. Should work fine, just like sweating pipes, but it need's something behind it to make it pool.

I had thought about just plain old body filler! I'll look around a few days and see what I can find.

Cool Re: First EVER!

I'm going to have it for the truck shows when I go! It's going to have the same paint and penstripping as the truck. Going to have everything polished and chromed I hope.
The pleasure chest cooler's are all over the place not much money. I have found a bunch of them for $35.00 to $50.00 on craigslist.

Cool Re: First EVER!

This one want be for sell! I have my 2 7 up coolers also. One is all orignal the other one is all orignal as far as looks. It's in the first post. I updated it with foam liner and new pop ribets because it was falling a part. Got a new drain plug ordered it will look orignal anyway. The foam I hope will keep the ice better to!

Cool Re: First EVER!

Bought the paint today going to try and getter done this weekend so I can get it pinstripped next week sometime!

I also got the plug installed in the 7 UP cooler!
All Stainless steal.

Here is what I have done on the old Pleasure Chest.
Put filler in the hole and hope it's going to hold. Have to sand it down and primer it.

Went to the local paint store and bought enough paint and hardener to match the truck + this handy dandy paint system.
