I think you need to re-do your chart, I dont see it gaining 50psi with the cable unhooked.

Re: HELP! rebuilt 700r4 pressere check numbers inside

If I ignore the "cable unhooked pressures" The Full Pull pressures are low for a good fresh 700R4, A worn one will have pressures about like that.

A "flaring" 2-3 shift is a death sentance to the 3-4 clutches, Even if it only happened a couple times...The 3-4s are most likely burnt. On a 700R4 there is a long list of problems with the 3-4 clutches.

If I would have built your unit, I would be pulling it out & going through it again!

i installed a corvette servo from a local trans shop, took 30 mins. now the trans shifts good and firm. during my pressure tests, i do believe i may have made a mistake in the procedure. clinebarger, do you know why this solved my problem? thanks -art

2nd gear.....The 2-4 band applies.
3rd gear......The 2-4 band releases and the 3-4 clutch applies.

The "Corvette" servo helped you because it has greater surface area, so more oil flows to engage and disengage it. This makes it slower, so the 2-4 band takes longer to pull off and it matched up better with the application of YOUR 3-4 clutches. It also engages slower, Causing a later 1-2 shift.

Any length of time between the 2-4 band disengaging & the 3-4 clutches engaging will cause a flare.

Your 3-4 clutches could still be burnt or the clutch clearances were set loose during the rebuild, And your "fix" with the 2nd piston is just "masking" the problem.

I like to match the 1-2 accumulator valve spring to the 2nd piston, Transgo shift kits have all provisions to do this.

im not disagreeing, my trans knowledge is comparable to a 1st grader. so is my trans ok? or am i being a little too "glass half full"? it really sucks because the guys that assembled my trans are long gone, its been over three years. and the instructor,a great guy, has been retired for 2 years now. so i cant really get any info. all i know at this point is that i payed for a transstar rebuild kit, and a transgo shift kit that cost around 120. no labor charge. i guess ill just drive it easy untill i can afford a good rebuild.

This isnt a call I can make for you, But if it were me I would pull the input drum & have a look at the 3-4s. They will burn up eventually if nothing is done, Just dont know when.
