I have a 2010 Serria 4x4 crew cab. I just had a ready lift leveling kit installed and I am trying to decide if I want to install a set of step bars. I have seen lots of trucks with them and I think they look pretty good but not sure if I will like them on my truck after they are installed. Hate to spend the money and not like them.

I will be replacing the stock tires in the next couple months so depending on which tires I go with it may lift it another 1" to 1 1/2".

I am sure there are people on both sides of this kind of debate, any suggestions or opinions are welcome.

You can always go with Amp Research power retractible steps best of both worlds...a bit pricey, but does address both of your concerns - the look of no steps when doors are closed, but the functionality of steps when the door(s) open.

I put a set on my Toyota 4 x 4 and it was a good purchase. My wife is not that tall, so she kinda needs them to get in...

I use them to get in, but they do take a little bit of a stretch to get out w/o dragging a pant leg across them.

Same here with my wife, she is short and has a hard time getting in now and I have also heard complaints about rubbing pant legs on them.

I have a coworker who has a F-150 with the automatic steps, those are pretty cool, they do make you use the step when it drops down as you open the door. but they are pricey. Not sure I want to go that route.

I guess it depends on how often your wife rides with you.... we take her car when we go most places, so it's not that a big deal for me.

The pants thing isn't that bad either. Your truck will be a lot higher than mine, so you may wind up using them to get out too. It's worst in the winter snow, but I'm guessing that you don't have that to worry about. :-)

Depends my wife hardly got on board on my truck. So I never used them.

I've never liked them too much because they can be wet or icy and be slippery. (Also not too crazy about the looks)

I banged up my knee pretty bad one time on a jeep I had because of slippery step bars in the rain.
