Gas Monkey--cheeseball

Im sitting here watching Barret-Jackson on tv---- Richard from Gas Monkey supposedly ran a "12 copo camaro thru as a "charity sale".

He waited till the bidding had effectively stopped (at 125K) then he announced that anything bid on the car over the 125K would be donated to the specified charity. So,, he got his and was graciously going to donate what little someone else might have bid to charity------no one raised the bid, so no money to the charity. What a greaseball!!!!

Re: Gas Monkey--cheeseball

I had trouble figuring out if I liked the show or their personalities. In the end, they are just down to earth drinkers and party folk. He tried to squeeze an extra dollar or two from an auction for a charity, how does that make him a bad guy? He donates more than a LOT of people so it's hard to call foul. His car, his money, his personal charity choice.

X100 - I really enjoy this show. Tom and Sue crack me up!

I see no foul in what Richard attempted to accomplish.

Unhappy Re: Gas Monkey--cheeseball

So if you donate a car, boat whatever to a Charity auction u get your money back first, then give the rest to Charity. Man I been doing it wrong all these years.

Yes I have donated several golf carts, and other things for charity and didn't ask for any money back for it!

If he started the auction saying the car was for a charity then the whole amount should have gone to that Charity and he shouldn't have gotten a penny. That's how a charity auction is suppose to work not get your money back before hand. He didn't donate anything to the charity.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Gas Monkey--cheeseball

Here's the Barrett-Jackson detailed information on the car.

http://www.barrett-jackson.com/appli...ln=427&aid=523

I don't see where this was a charity car, infact it looks like it had a reserve attached (very rare for a Barrett-Jackson auction).

I think there has been a misunderstanding.

Re: Gas Monkey--cheeseball

I don't know anything about the auction/donation thing..........But , If you watch the show and see how Richard conducts himself with elderly people you'd have a different opinion of him. He always calls them Ma'm and Sir and has gone as far as too say he wants to sit down and drink a beer and listen to their stories. Anybody that does stuff like that is O.k in my book.
