The Great Race

I just watched coverage of this year's race on Velocity and wondered if any one here has participated in the race. This year's race was from Kirkwood, Mo to Cali. It looks like a fun way to see the back roads of the country while enjoying classic cars and trucks. They take a different route each year. It's a road rally I guess you could say as each leg is timed and the closest to the clock wins each leg. I am unsure as to the vehicle age requirements to join. Most seem to be old classics.
The Great Race has been around for quite a while and has been owned by several people over the years. A local guy named Pike I think owned it for a few years and he ran a cool old racer. It was sponsored by Peterbilt and was a torpedo bodied, straight 6, tall tired racer like from the early 20s.
It looks like way more fun than a lawn chair car show.
I'm just curious if anyone here has participated in any of the races.
