Brake bulkhead fittings
I posted this in suspension, but didn't get much response. Hoping someone here could give some guidance.
Why is it so difficult to find bulkhead fittings to route the brake lines through the frame? I know there are a ton of options if you want to run AN and adapters, but really I'm just looking at replacing my stock setup because I lost the originals. Maybe I'm not using the correct search terms? If anyone has an idea, or some direction, I would greatly appreciate it! |

Re: Brake bulkhead fittings
I have seen their stuff, but I was hoping to stick with the double-flare stock stuff instead of having to adapt AN fittings. I may have to go that route though if I can't find stock.
I guess I could just junkyard dive too. |

Re: Brake bulkhead fittings
speaking of bulkheads... check fastenal.com. i just ordered some for a different project but noticed they have a DOT section for brake stuff. Lots of bulkheads there. I got brass ones for my project. Just got an email saying they are being shipped to a central warehouse from all over and then to me. bleh. slow. glad i didnt waste any money on overnight shipping.

Re: Brake bulkhead fittings
You know...I found that, but the 1/8" MPT through me off. I figured it must be different that NPT, but then when you read in the details it states NPT. One question/concern I have is that it states it's for air brake applications with a working pressure of 125 psi. Doesn't a modern braking system run about 1200 psi? I thought I read that somewhere, but I know I'm crazy

Re: Brake bulkhead fittings
keep looking. i saw stuff that was 2000psi im pretty sure.
To answer your question I have no idea on the mpt/ npt/ compression thing. that crap all confuses me and I always have to bring one with me and fiddle till i find one. I took a chance on this order so we will see if my npts and mnpts fit haha also no idea on brake psis. |

Re: Brake bulkhead fittings
I don't think these trucks used inverted flare bulkhead fittings originally. Mine doesn't have any. All i can find are AN bulkhead fittings. Possibly you can adapt to them.
