TH400 Kickdown switch
Hey all.... was wondering, did any of our trucks come with a TH400 tranny? If so.... where was the kickdown switch? On the gas pedal or carb?
I have a TH400 (out of an olds), but no it doesn't downshift. I found where a single wire plugs into the tranny, so I assume that is it. Is that just straight 12v to actuate it? Any info would be appreciated!! ~Sean |

Depends on what year your truck is. 69 & 70 have the switch on the carb as shown in the post linked to by Gee Emm. 71&72 have the switch mounted on the accelerator in the cab, those models use a cable instead of linkage. The latter is a better setup, IMO. I would consider converting if you have the older truck.

Awesome!! Thank you very much... Gee_Emm... you mentioned a two wire terminal.... do you know if it's just 12v in, and a standard pushbutton switch?
Thanks for all the info!! ~S |
