Hybrid 71 Chevy C10 Fleetside

I have just installed 71 GMC original fenders, a 67-68 aftermarket radiator support, 67-68 original grill, 67-68 cowl induction hood on my 71 Chevy C10 fleetside. I can't adust the hood so that the gaps on the side of the hood and fenders and between the front and the grill are equal. The hood leaves a gap of about 1/2" in the middle when the hood hits on the grill on the sides. The next thing I am going to try is leaving the inner fenders off and see if this helps any, then I am going to try an old rusted out radiator support that I have to see if there is any difference between it and that aftermarket one. I lreally like the look of the cowl hood and really want to use it, but is it the problem? I guess the third option is trying an original hood. I am going to exhaust all options before I give up on the hood because it's so sharp looking on the 67-68 front end. Can anyone who has tried to do something similar give me some advice. Thanks in advance for any help.
