Wifi range extenders

Does any know about these? My wireless modem is at one end of my house and the signal on the other side of the house is almost nil. I cant move the modem, so Im looking to extend the signal.

If you know about these, please let me know which ones to buy.

Thanks

Re: Wifi range extenders

i'd say that you should try goin to your service provider for a suitable fix
those 19.99 available at cvs and walgreens aint the way to go

i've got wifi here and the range is very good to go outside and everywhere on the property it seems to work good

Re: Wifi range extenders

^ x2. I have a pretty large house with the router in one corner and have excellent wifi everwhere inside. I would call my internet service provider and talk to them about the problem before spending any of my own money on the problem.

Re: Wifi range extenders

Talked to AT&T and they are selling me a more updated modem with all 3 wireless B,G&N support.. My current one only support B&G. That hopefully will solve my issues.

Thanks for the feedback!!

Re: Wifi range extenders

Josh just did all this at our house. No clue what he did but the kids are no longer whining and I have good wifi all across the house now.

Re: Wifi range extenders

The newer router AT&T is sending you should be better than what you currently have. They still aren't very powerful if you have several devices on your network/wifi (10+ roughly).

I usually steer away from range extenders and install Access Points instead, but you have to be able to run a wire from the router to wherever you want the WAP. With that said, I have used the Apple Airport Express setup as an extender to an Airport Extreme with good success.

Also last week I setup an Amped Wireless extender to a system simply because I did not have a WAP instock and apparently BB and Staples are no longer carrying them. Figured I was spinning my wheels but knock on wood, its worked rather well so far.

Re: Wifi range extenders

I didn't think if WAP's. I have used them in the past at my old job and they did work well.. I may not have the easiest time running a cable to one from where my modem is sitting now.. I will see how the new modem works. It its not much better, I will look at WAP's again..

Thanks for the reminder on them.
