What years are tower clamps correct for?
I think we visited by never resolved this.
My '70 truck was bone-stock original, but had only gear clamps. The factory parts book lists only gear clamps for 1970 onwards. But that could be that a service item supplanted the old style.

Re: What years are tower clamps correct for?
Not sure if this helps but my 67 had tower clamps on the rad hoses, spring type wire clamps on the heater hoses and gear clamps with little tangs on them on the a/c lines.

Re: What years are tower clamps correct for?
My 69 also came with tower clamps on the radiator hoses. The heater hoses had either Corbin (spring wire type) or tower clamps. I don't recall which. The Assembly and Service Manuals show Corbin clamps on the heater hoses through 69 and tower clamps on the 70s. I opted for the Corbin clamps on my resto. The A/C hoses were clamped with a unique type of gear clamps. They had an added piece that positioned them the proper distance from the ends of the hoses. I think 1970 was the first year for the crimped A/C hoses.
I couldn't find any pics of the radiator hose attachment in either the Service Manual or Assembly Manual. Last edited by FirstOwner69; 09-24-2014 at 10:27 PM. |

Re: What years are tower clamps correct for?
Tower clamps through 72 at least. The funny a/c clamps were still available through 4 seasons replacement parts a few years ago. The 67-68 should be Corbin clamps.

Re: What years are tower clamps correct for?
They were for sure used through 72, my low mile trucks all have them.

Re: What years are tower clamps correct for?
To answer the original question:
What years are tower clamps correct for? I would say any car I haven't serviced or don't drive. I was taught by a VERY reputable mechanic that you never re-install a tower clamp. So I would say based on the evidence provided by other posters, your truck probably did have tower clamps from the factory but during normal servicing you got the better worm drive clamps.
