Looking for correct heater hose routing for 70 K20 350
Not sure if K20 matters but would like to see some factory correct engine bays for reference. I would like to see how the heater hoses route (non ac truck) from the heater core to the engine and what the correct clamp is. Do they attach to the inner fender with a hose clip that holds both hoses?
Any factory or survivor photos of a 70 engine compartment may help and is very much appreciated. Thank you, Tom

Here are a couple 70s for you. A red C30 and that blue 80 mile C/10.

I am not sure I will go the route with the hoses but nice to have a correct reference. The other thing on the blue truck that baffles me is the twist on oil cap. What do you know about what is correct? I was always under the assumption that twist on oil caps were big block trucks and passenger cars and not on small block trucks until 73. If the blue 80 mile truck is actually rock solid correct, then is the twist on cap for a 70 C10 only? Interesting and I am curious about this as well but don't think I will change mine as I love the push in style. Thank you for your expertise. Tom

Here's a link to the correct clip to secure the heater hoses to the inner fender.

Tom, I will get a pic of my heater hoses. Can you snap me a pic of your booster/master cylinder? Thanks,
Jim

Re: Looking for correct heater hose routing for 70 K20 350
Was just thumbing through the 72 service manual (looking for something else) and noted the "typical" drawing for a V-8/manual is identical to the 80 mile truck pictures!
The red trucks original upper hose and length would also seem to agree. Looks like it was twisted down when they replaced the inlet hose with the goodyear section. Was a fire truck, so there may have been some unseen space considerations too.

Re: Looking for correct heater hose routing for 70 K20 350
Is there of great importance to attaching the heater hoses to the inner fender. I don't mean as far as going back to original, but wondering if there is a functional purpose. I could see that it might ensure that it doesn't end up against the manifold or put unnecessary stress on the heater core. I'm just curious. I put on new hoses and cut them shorter than in the pictures. They'll work just fine, but now, I'm wondering if I should go get longer ones and attach them to the inner fender. Mine won't be an as original truck, it is a 4x4 though so, it might see a little rough ride from time to time.

I don't think from a functional stand point the length of the hose matters that much. What you do want to make sure is that they are clear and away from the heat of the exhaust manifold which will dry the hose out prematurely. The other thing is routing so no air will trap in the hose. If you look at proper routing on a early Chevelle, the hoses were attached with a bracket on the inner fender. Maybe some other models as well. Hope this helps, Tom
