Anyone running a Boyd Welding tank please come on in
I installed a Boyd welding tank in my 1966 C20. I need to know what to use to plug the fuel tank drain plug. The thread size is 3/8" NPT. Boyd's does not show a drain plug on there website. I emailed them and they said they don't sell one.
I went to Lowe's and bought a 3/8" NPT brass plug. I put permatex thread sealant that said is safe for gasoline on the threads but it's still leaking. So what did you use? Thanks, Matt

I have my pickup in that hole. I used permatex pipe sealant with teflon. Been fine for a couple of years so far.http://www.permatex.com/products-2/p...th-ptfe-detail

That's where I run my fuel return to. But the right thread with the right sealant shouldn't leak. Try a different sealant type.

I run my feed from that location.( Passenger side low on the tank) My return is on top of the tank.

Re: Anyone running a Boyd Welding tank please come on in
My tank has the in-tank EFI fuel pump, hence why I feed from the top. I put my return on the bottom so I don't have any pouring effect as the fuel returns. The top return was too close to the pickup for my liking and I didn't want any kind of aeration effect of making the fuel splash around the pickup.

That should fix it...I have that same brass plug, a few wraps of tape and haven't had a leak even one time.
