Cost to Lower
New to this, 81 C10 Stepside, Have 4.5 and 6 inch McGaughey Lowering Kit, What am I looking at to install cost wise ? C section , Spindles and shocks.

Do it yourself......... all bolt on stuff except for the C Notch which is easy if you have a grinder and cutoff wheels.......... I just did mine and never done it before and it was pretty easy if you know you're way around tools.

To BBBc10, My kit was purchased from Summit and I got the 2.5 spindles and springs, Flip kit and C Sections plus all 4 Shocks. We are going to put the HD Front Disc Rotors and upgrade to Power brakes also. Should be a Hoot when its done the Truck has a 350/350 with and aftermarket cam and Edelbrock Carb and Performer Manifold. It runs very well with a bit of an oil leak at the back of the Intake, No biggie there though. I want to have the Trans rebuilt for a bit of 1/8 mile fun at the local track. Should be a Hoot !

Back in 83 when I had my new 83 Silverado lowered it was $300. bones out the door,, flip kit, 2 cut coils, alignment kit and shocks. Work done by Cal Truck Works out of LA. Back then $300 wasn't cheap!

Ah ok glad you got the spindles an springs up front instead of the control arms.....but a heads up keep a eye out on the flip kit seen many ppl have problems with it also the front springs been giving ppl problems also

We used mcgaughys on my truck and it lowered me way more than advertised on the front. The flip kit seemed ok but I think the u bolts are a little short. I did not use a c-notch, my dad was against it.

Sorry thought i had read it was a djm kit....many problems wth them....but wth mcgaughys like said above gonna be lower in front.....an i think the notch is not so good......i had western chassis on mine wth belltech flip kit which are 2 higher quality than the other brands

We are doing this ourselves, My question was due to our helper which is my Brother has a Shop with 6 lifts so we have plenty of work area but I asked the question basically to get an idea of what one would pay to do this work ! And I guess it would be hourly. McGaugheys kit is straight forward and Brother has done several previously so it should go smoothly its a Chevrolet for Goodness sakes ! Thanks for Your response everybody !

Slightly off topic....BUT... , cut off the old bump stops, put the the litle mushroom shaped polyurethane bump stops in before cutting the c-notch, and see how it works for you. My truck is flipped with no c notch...its worked out ok.

When i lowered my truck wth a 6" flip kit an installed the notch i found out u can lower 6" without using a notch if your never gona haul anything or tow

I notched my truck when I flipped the axle, and while I ~certainly~ carry loads (1000+lbs) in it, the pumpkin hits the bed floor before the axle tubes even hit the un-notched frame.
Don't notch it, and then after a while see if you actually needed to. You can always do it later.
