Very nice.
Carpenery is not my strong suit, but is that unfinished wood or did you paint it to give it the white look?

Tx guys, The wood is select grade treated. There is a local place that carries 1x8 and 1x6. I then stained it with semi-transparant deck stain. Severe weather Stonehedge grey

The wood is treated yellow pine.
To fix the lip on the fender I have seen several guys take an angled piece and cut groves in it and bend it around. I could not find the right material. I have some steel looks to be about 14 guage. I ground off all the bad metal then I primed the underside with lots of weldable primer. (has lots of zinc, if you use this wear a good mask when you weld) I then welded a strip 1 1/2" wide along the lip of the fender. I then made several L shaped brackets about 4" long and welded them where the bolts would go. I placed the fender on the bedsides, alighed the edges with my marks, and marked and drilled new bolt holes. I then used lots and lots of seam sealer forcing it into any cracks and covered it all with 6 coats of paint. Then it will get a good coating of undercoat. I'll try to get some pics before I cover it all up with under coating.

Here is a pic of the inside of the fender where it meets the bed sides. The fender has undercoating on it (black) and the bedside doesnt. You can see the strip I welded to the fender and the L bracket welded on top of the strip.
The welds are covered with seamsealer, paint and undercoating.

Some closeups of the wood, in the others you cant tell the grain shows through.

Those pics brought back some memories of when I did mine. My fenders looked the same way. I just cut off the back of the fender and made new angle pieces from an old hood and welded everything up. Can't tell they were ever bad now.
And I too had to cut out many sections of the bed sides too. Just about every bolt hole area had rotted so I cut squares out and welded in new pieces, then redrilled the holes. ALOT OF WORK! The easiest part was the tailgate and front bed panel. I replace those with new! ![]() Keep up the good work! You gave that box a new lease on life. ![]()
