Brake line routing - will it clear?
Hey all,
Just took a shot at starting to run my front brake lines. Been so long since I've had an engine in here I'm not sure whether or not these will be okay RE exhaust manifold/headers for a SBC V8. Thoughts? ![]() |

They may be good but with so many header choices you may have to make an adjustment. I looks like you have plenty of tubing to be able to do that. I would slide the inner fender on and see how it looks.

Re: Brake line routing - will it clear?
Not sure if this pic will help. This is how I routed mine when I had the fenders off. I put my "flex loops" down inside of the frame rails. Only clearance issue I had was where the speedometer cable comes through the firewall. It ended up going in between the front and rear brake lines on the way down the firewall.
Its not the best pic or bends but they both follow the clutch line and are way out of the way of the headers and anything else. If you look at the lower fender support you can just see them sneaking by. Not my idea. There was a member here that had a Burb with the cleanest engine compartment I've ever seen. He was the inspiration for my routing. Wish I could remember who it was.

Re: Brake line routing - will it clear?
Thanks for the info and help guys! Got them routed and for now will just see how the engine fits once I get it, as if I have to do it again I'd rather wait and not speculate further. Chris that setup looks really nice!

Re: Brake line routing - will it clear?
Thanks Siggy. Just out of curiosity, what type of tubing are you running? Steel or copper / nickel?

I'll likely redo mine eventually even just to make it look nicer, but for now it's function over form. Bending these to look nice is turning out to be as much art as it is science. |
